Assunta (Usha) and Barbara (Saraswati) travel to India together to commemorate their dance teacher Kalakshetra K.P. Kunhiraman's 80th birthday in Chennai, with teachers Katherine Kunhiraman and K.P. Yeshoda. Friends for 35 years, and dance partners for several of those years, they return to India together for a three month journey.
Assunta and I were delighted to see this photo in the morning "THE HINDU" paper ....a good shot of all of us at our teacher Kakalshetra K.P.Kunhiraman's 80th birthday celebration--this took place in the Kalari of dancer Chandralekha (now deceased). Her home and Kalari/theater have become a trust called "Chandra Mandapa" --just for such events as these. It was a wonderful morning gathering of many teachers and friends from old Kalakshetra days.
